The Telematics Engineer will be responsible for enhancing and expanding the organisation’s telematics reporting platform by delivering end-to-end technical solutions, including design, development, implementation, and optimisation. The role also involves analysing large datasets to generate meaningful business insights that drive performance, efficiency, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain business intelligence dashboards and reports to monitor telematics system performance and operational metrics
• Extract, analyse, and interpret complex engineering, software, and operational data to support informed decision-making
• Design, develop, and optimise data pipelines in collaboration with software development and DevOps teams
• Ensure data accuracy, integrity, security, and accessibility across all telematics reporting systems
• Lead and deliver telematics-related technical projects from initiation through to implementation
• Collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams and manage external technical suppliers
• Perform root cause analysis to identify and resolve system and performance issues
• Support continuous improvement of telematics systems and reporting capabilities
• Translate business and technical requirements into actionable data solutions

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in BI and data visualisation tools such as AWS QuickSight, Power BI, or Tableau

• Experience working with relational and non-relational databases
• Hands-on experience with ETL processes and data pipeline development
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems such as Git
• Exposure to Unix/Linux environments is advantageous
• Understanding of AI and software engineering disciplines is advantageous

Education and Experience

• Matric (required)
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field (required)
• AWS Certification is advantageous
• Master’s Degree (MSc) is advantageous

Experience

• Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in business intelligence and data analytics within an engineering or technology-driven environment
• Proven experience in technical project delivery and data-driven solution development
• Strong exposure to software development principles and data engineering practices
