Key Responsibilities

Strategic Management

  • Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive strategic plan for the store, ensuring alignment with overall Divisional strategy and initiatives.

Market Share Growth and Protection

  • Drive growth in transactions, sales, and market share to meet budgetary targets.
  • Achieve sales budgets and growth objectives consistently.
  • Manage and promote customer loyalty programs and third-party credit offerings.
  • Develop and execute action plans to counter competitor market entries.
  • Ensure store business plans are implemented and updated as required.

Customer Service Excellence

  • Oversee the implementation and monitoring of the customer service strategy within the store.
  • Maintain an effective delivery service in line with company policy.
  • Grow and retain the VIC and charge card client base.
  • Recommend range improvements to better suit market demands.

Asset Control and Security

  • Manage and control shrinkage within the store according to policy.
  • Protect company assets, including cash, stock, and fixed assets.
  • Manage debtors within the store effectively.
  • Analyze security requirements and recommend necessary changes.
  • Ensure physical security measures are implemented and maintained.

Business Trade Licenses

  • Ensure all relevant trade licenses are kept up-to-date and renewed in a timely manner.

Human Resource Management

  • Manage manpower requirements in line with company and divisional strategy.
  • Establish succession planning and career pathing initiatives within the store.
  • Foster open communication and maintain positive relations with the Store Employee Forum and staff.
  • Ensure appropriate training and development programs are in place for the store team.
  • Effectively manage employee relations within the store.

Store Standards and Operations

  • Conduct daily floor walks to ensure operational excellence.
  • Implement agreed-upon action plans (PIPs) where necessary.
  • Monitor adherence to company standard compliance throughout the store.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping.
  • Ensure merchandising policies and standards are consistently followed.
  • Implement “ready for business” procedures within the store.
  • Ensure lighting, store fixtures, and racking are maintained in good condition.

Stock Management

  • Ensure stock is ordered and received according to company policy.
  • Manage damaged stock clearance as per policy.
  • Implement action plans for obsolete and slow-moving stock in line with policy.
  • Manage excess stock according to policy.

Store Safety (OHSA) Standards

  • Manage safety aspects in compliance with local (OHSA) and/or neighboring countries’ legislation.
  • Ensure all required checklists are completed accurately.
  • Appoint all OHSA representatives for the store as required by legislation.
  • Investigate, report, and manage OHSA incidents.

Expense Management

  • Manage store operations within the Financial Model and benchmarks.
  • Maintain expenses in line with the store budget.

Insurance Claims Administration

  • Report all incidents to the relevant insurer promptly.
  • Liaise with the relevant insurer regarding claim particulars and validity.
  • Submit all necessary documentation to the insurer.

Management of CB Way

  • Implement and maintain controls and disciplines as per the CB Way.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Grade 12 certificate with a minimum of 3 years of related retail management experience, or 5 years of related retail management experience.
  • Well-developed business acumen.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Computer literate (basic computer skills).
  • Strong leadership and administrative skills.
  • Own transport and a valid driver’s license are preferable.
  • Must possess one’s own cell phone.
  • Sound knowledge of Health and Safety aspects in line with local (OHSA) and/or neighboring countries’ legislation.
  • Strong Human Resources Management skills.
  • Keen attention to detail.
