We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cashier to join the Cashbuild team in Mondlo, South Africa. As a Cashier, you will be responsible for the accurate and efficient handling of all Point of Sale (POS) transactions, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction and the secure management of all company funds.

Key Responsibilities

Cash Handling

  • Accurately manage all allocated cash, including floats and petty cash, ensuring balances are maintained with no discrepancies.
  • Precisely identify and capture goods on the Point of Sale terminal.
  • Process customer payments accurately using the POS terminal.
  • Maintain sufficient change at all times to facilitate smooth transactions.
  • Execute pickups accurately and within set parameters.
  • Complete end-of-shift cash-ups with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ensure all daily takings are securely deposited into the drop safe or vault.
  • Process all transactions related to other stores’ money, deliveries, and quotes correctly.

Customer Service

  • Provide fast, friendly, and efficient service to all Cashbuild customers during checkout.
  • Direct customers to the appropriate personnel for assistance when needed.
  • Adhere to the company’s dress code at all times.

Administration

  • Sign, compile, and file all documentation relevant to the Cashier function.

Safety and Security

  • Ensure compliance with Safety (OHSA) regulations, including maintaining safety for customers and staff within your area of responsibility.
  • Report any discrepancies immediately to the Store Manager.
  • Adhere to security protocols, such as system password control at the till point.
  • Ensure the safe keeping of cash and its transport to the cash office, following Cashbuild Way requirements.

General

  • Comply with “Ready for Business” and “Beyond my Control” standards as per the CB Way.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 or a minimum of one (1) year of relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency in communicating in English and the dominant local language spoken in the Mondlo area.
  • Ability to perform basic calculations accurately and efficiently.
  • Strong administrative skills.
  • Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and Public Holidays.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
