Key Purpose

The Senior Business Analyst plays a strategic role in translating complex business objectives into effective, scalable, and integrated technology solutions. Acting as the key link between business stakeholders and technical teams, the role ensures that requirements are clearly defined, validated, and successfully delivered through high-quality system implementations.

In addition to analysis and documentation, this role provides leadership to other Business Analysts, influences solution design decisions, reduces delivery risks, and supports end-to-end delivery across multiple business and technical teams.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements & Solution Definition

• Lead the elicitation, analysis, and documentation of complex, cross-domain business requirements
• Translate business needs into detailed Business, Functional, and Product Requirements Specifications
• Apply modelling techniques such as UML, process flows, and data models to define current and future state solutions
• Identify system dependencies, integration points, risks, and non-functional requirements early in the lifecycle

Stakeholder Engagement & Consulting

• Act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders and challenge requirements where misaligned with strategy
• Facilitate workshops, design sessions, and requirement walkthroughs to achieve alignment and sign-off
• Build strong working relationships across business, architecture, development, testing, and operations teams

Delivery, Quality & Testing

• Support development teams by clarifying requirements and ensuring accurate implementation
• Define and review test scenarios, test cases, and test data aligned to requirements
• Lead or support System Integration Testing and User Acceptance Testing, including defect management
• Ensure delivered solutions meet business expectations and quality standards

Leadership & Governance

• Provide mentorship, coaching, and quality oversight to Business Analysts within the team or domain
• Conduct peer reviews to ensure consistency in analysis standards and best practices
• Contribute to continuous improvement of BA methodologies, tools, and templates
• Act in an advisory capacity when required across delivery initiatives

Release & Post-Implementation Support

• Ensure accurate release documentation, including business communications and release notes
• Support go-live activities, monitoring, and incident resolution
• Participate in post-implementation reviews to identify improvements and optimisation opportunities

Education and Experience

Academic Qualifications

• Degree in Informatics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related IT discipline
• Business Analysis certifications (IIBA, CBAP) are advantageous

Experience

• Minimum of 6+ years’ experience as a Business Analyst in a software development environment
• Proven experience working across multiple teams and complex system integrations
• Demonstrated leadership or mentorship experience within a BA function

Technical Exposure

• Working knowledge of SQL, XML, and JSON
• Experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Enterprise Architect, Postman, or Swagger
• Understanding of system architecture, data modelling, and solution design principles
