Rigger
We are seeking a qualified and safety-conscious Rigger to join an underground mining operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing rigging and lifting activities, ensuring the safe movement of heavy equipment, and maintaining compliance with mining safety regulations and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform rigging, lifting, and positioning of heavy equipment and materials within underground mining environments.
- Inspect, assemble, and maintain rigging equipment, lifting gear, chain blocks, slings, and associated tools.
- Conduct pre-use inspections of all rigging and lifting equipment to ensure safety and operational readiness.
- Ensure the safe movement, installation, and relocation of machinery and equipment underground.
- Assist with shutdown projects, maintenance activities, and equipment installations.
- Identify and report damaged or defective rigging equipment and ensure corrective actions are taken.
- Follow approved lifting plans and safe work procedures during all lifting operations.
- Work closely with supervisors, engineers, and maintenance teams to complete tasks efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, equipment checks, and completed work.
- Ensure strict compliance with mine safety standards, risk management procedures, and statutory requirements.
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Recognized Rigger Trade Certificate.
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in underground mining operations.
- Valid Red Ticket or Medical Fitness Certificate for underground mining work.
- Proven experience working with lifting equipment, chain blocks, hoists, slings, and rigging systems.
- Strong understanding of underground lifting operations and rigging best practices.
- Knowledge of mining safety procedures, hazard identification, and risk assessment.
- Ability to work effectively in physically demanding underground environments.
Mandatory Certifications
- Valid Working at Heights Certificate.
- Valid Confined Space Certificate.
- Valid Power Tools Training Certificate.
