Cyber Security Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Cyber Security Engineer to join a specialized security team responsible for protecting critical systems, networks, applications, and data from evolving cyber threats. The successful candidate will design, implement, support, and manage advanced security solutions while ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of organizational information assets.

This role offers the opportunity to work across cloud environments, infrastructure platforms, DevOps ecosystems, and security technologies while collaborating with cross-functional teams to strengthen cyber resilience and enhance security operations.

Key Responsibilities

Security Engineering and Implementation
  • Design, implement, configure, and maintain enterprise security solutions.
  • Protect systems, networks, applications, users, and data against cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Develop and implement security controls aligned with organizational security standards and policies.
  • Support the deployment of secure cloud-based and on-premises infrastructure solutions.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize security technologies and platforms.
  • Participate in security-focused projects and contribute to successful project delivery.
Cloud and Infrastructure Security
  • Design and support secure, highly available cloud infrastructure environments.
  • Implement cloud security best practices across enterprise platforms.
  • Ensure compliance with security requirements for cloud-based workloads and services.
  • Support infrastructure security initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate security into cloud deployments and infrastructure designs.
DevOps and Automation
  • Integrate security controls into DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Automate security processes, monitoring, and compliance checks where possible.
  • Enhance build, deployment, and release processes through automation and security best practices.
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure secure software delivery practices.
  • Support Infrastructure-as-Code implementations and secure configuration management.
Data Security and Protection
  • Implement and maintain data protection controls, including encryption, masking, and data loss prevention measures.
  • Support the protection of structured and unstructured data across enterprise environments.
  • Ensure appropriate access control and identity management mechanisms are in place.
  • Assist with securing data pipelines, storage systems, and information assets.
Security Operations and Collaboration
  • Work closely with security teams, developers, infrastructure engineers, and business stakeholders.
  • Provide security guidance and recommendations to technical teams.
  • Participate in risk assessments, security reviews, and incident response activities.
  • Support compliance initiatives related to information security and data protection requirements.
  • Stay informed on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and cybersecurity trends.

Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Cloud Computing, Information Technology, Cyber Security, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in Cyber Security Engineering or a related technical role.
  • Proven experience implementing, managing, and supporting security solutions.
  • Experience working within cloud, infrastructure, DevOps, or software engineering environments.
  • Hands-on experience with security technologies, tools, and automation frameworks.
  • Experience working with CI/CD tools such as GitLab, GitHub, or similar platforms.
  • Working knowledge of cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
  • Experience with scripting and automation technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • AWS Security, AWS Data, or cloud security certifications.
  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, or equivalent cybersecurity credentials.
  • Experience in DevOps environments with integrated security practices.
  • Experience working with large-scale data and security log processing technologies.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems and modern software engineering architectures.

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of cloud security principles and best practices.
  • Expertise in data protection technologies, including encryption, masking, and DLP solutions.
  • Knowledge of identity and access management frameworks.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools including Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
  • Understanding of enterprise infrastructure concepts, architectures, and technologies.
  • Familiarity with secure software development and DevSecOps methodologies.

Programming and Automation Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of at least one programming language such as Python, Java, Go, or .NET.
  • Advanced scripting and automation skills.
  • Experience supporting automated deployment and release pipelines.
  • Ability to develop and maintain security automation solutions.
