Welder
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Welder to join an underground mining operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out welding repairs, fabrication work, equipment maintenance, and structural modifications while ensuring all work meets quality standards and mining safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform welding repairs, fabrication, and maintenance activities within underground mining environments.
- Carry out ARC, CO2, Argon, and other approved welding processes as required.
- Fabricate, assemble, and repair metal structures, components, and mining equipment.
- Inspect welding work to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards.
- Conduct pre-use checks and routine maintenance on welding equipment and tools.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, welding procedures, and work instructions.
- Assist with equipment installations, shutdown projects, and maintenance operations.
- Identify welding defects and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and risk assessments.
- Ensure compliance with mine safety regulations, company policies, and operational procedures.
- Complete work efficiently while maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety.
Requirements
- Relevant Welding Qualification or Trade Certification.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience within an underground mining environment.
- Valid Red Ticket or Medical Fitness Certificate for underground mining work.
- Experience with ARC, CO2, and Argon welding techniques will be advantageous.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in confined underground conditions.
- Strong understanding of welding procedures, fabrication methods, and quality standards.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Mandatory Certifications
- Valid Working at Heights Certificate.
- Valid Confined Space Certificate.
- Valid Power Tools Training Certificate.
