Cashbuild is seeking a driven and ambitious individual to join our team as a Trainee Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with retail management experience looking to develop their career within a leading national retailer. You will play a crucial role in protecting and growing profitable market share, directly contributing to the success of our Phalaborwa store.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Trainee Manager, you will work closely with the Store Manager to oversee various aspects of store operations, including:
- Strategic Management: Assisting in the development, implementation, and management of a Store Business Plan aligned with the company’s overall strategy.
- Market Share Growth: Supporting initiatives to achieve sales budgets, growth objectives, and customer loyalty programmes, while proactively protecting market share against competitor activity.
- Customer Service Excellence: Implementing and monitoring customer service strategies, aiming for high customer audit scores, ensuring efficient delivery services, and growing the VIC client base. You will also action customer survey feedback and recommend range improvements.
- Asset Control (Stock): Managing and controlling shrinkage, overseeing stock takes, stock movement, customer returns, and the receiving process. This includes analyzing security needs and implementing physical measures.
- Asset Control (Cash): Assisting in the management of debtors, petty cash, daily banking, and handling of cheques and credit cards.
- Asset Control (Fixed Assets): Ensuring the maintenance and protection of store assets, including racking, displays, signage, IT equipment, telephones, and the safe.
- Human Resource Management: Supporting recruitment, induction, and employee training and development. You will also be involved in succession planning, managing manpower requirements, and fostering positive employee relations.
- Store Safety (OHSA) Standards: Ensuring compliance with local health and safety legislation, including checklist completion, appointment of safety representatives, and incident reporting.
- Store Trading Standards: Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, merchandising, implementing planograms, and managing yard and parking areas.
- Profitability: Assisting in achieving operating income budgets and managing the store according to financial models and benchmarks.
- CB Way Adherence: Monitoring adherence to company standards, implementing controls, and executing corrective action plans as identified through internal audits.
Requirements:
- Grade 12 qualification.
- A minimum of two years’ retail management experience.
- A valid driver’s license.
- A valid ID or work permit.
- Strong accounting and administrative skills.
- Proficiency in basic computer literacy.
- Excellent leadership and human resources skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Must own reliable transport and a cell phone.
- Sound knowledge of Health and Safety legislation (OHSA and/or neighbouring countries).
