Role Overview
As a General Assistant, you will be instrumental in ensuring a positive shopping experience for our customers. This includes providing comprehensive customer service, maintaining stock presentation and merchandising standards, and ensuring the cleanliness and safety of your designated area.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service Excellence
- Advise and assist customers with product selection and address their queries.
- Effectively resolve customer complaints to ensure satisfaction.
Merchandising and Presentation
- Maintain bulk stock areas safely and in line with the store’s layout plan.
- Ensure your area of responsibility is fully merchandised according to store layout and planograms.
- Implement correct shelf price labelling within your designated area.
Store Operations and Housekeeping
- Keep your area free of obstacles, merchandising stock promptly after receipt.
- Ensure aisles are clear and accessible, preventing any risk of injury or irritation to customers.
- Complete required checklists, including canteen and toilet/shower schedules, when on duty.
Safety and Compliance
- Adhere to all Safety (OHSA) requirements, including the use of safety gear and ensuring the safety of customers and staff.
- Ensure that racking and bulk stock in your area are merchandised safely for customers and colleagues.
- Report any discrepancies or safety concerns to the Store Manager.
Stock Management
- Report any damaged stock within your area of responsibility to the Store Manager.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A minimum of Grade 10 or NQF Level 3 with at least one (1) year of relevant work experience, OR
- A Grade 12 qualification without prior work experience.
- Proficiency in English and the dominant language spoken in the Dwarsloop geographical area.
- A valid South African ID or work permit.
- The ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- The capacity to work effectively under pressure.
