General Assistant – Cashbuild

Cashbuild is seeking a dedicated and customer-focused individual to join our team as a General Assistant in Cape Town. Key Responsibilities

Customer Service Excellence

  • Provide comprehensive customer service within the store.
  • Advise and assist customers with product selection and queries.
  • Effectively handle and resolve customer complaints.

Merchandising and Store Standards

  • Ensure all stock is accurately merchandised and priced on shelves according to store layout and planograms.
  • Maintain the bulk stock area, ensuring it is merchandised safely and according to the store layout plan.
  • Ensure your designated area of responsibility is fully merchandised.

Housekeeping and Safety

  • Maintain a clean and safe shopping environment, ensuring aisles are free of obstacles and stock.
  • Ensure stock is merchandised promptly after receipt.
  • Ensure correct shelf price labelling within your area of responsibility.
  • Complete required checklists, including canteen and toilet/shower schedules when on duty.
  • Adhere to Safety (OHSA) requirements, including the use of safety gear and ensuring the safety of customers and staff.
  • Ensure all racking and bulk stock is merchandised safely for customers and colleagues.
  • Report any discrepancies or safety concerns to the Store Manager.

Stock Management

  • Report any damaged stock within your area of responsibility to the Store Manager.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Minimum Grade 10 (NQF 3) with at least one year of relevant work experience, OR Grade 12 without relevant work experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant language spoken in the Cape Town area.
  • Possession of a valid South African ID or work permit.
  • Proven ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
  • Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
