Cashbuild is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a System Sup in Ga-Malekana, South Africa. This role is crucial for overseeing all Point of Sale (POS) transactions, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction, and managing all Cash Office and banking procedures, alongside essential POS administrative functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Service Excellence:
- Supervise all speed point transactions, including credit and debit card processing, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
- Proactively assist customers with their needs through clear and effective communication.
- Address customer requests, queries, and complaints, resolving them directly or escalating to management as appropriate.
- Deliver fast, friendly, and efficient service to all customers.
- Manage and ensure the availability of necessary stationery and consumables within the store.
- Cash Handling and Banking:
- Maintain control over store floats, including petty cash, till floats, and change floats.
- Manage the ordering and dispensing of change.
- Balance and record petty cash expenses and vouchers in the ledger.
- Process back office transactions and cash up cashiers and the back office till. This includes handling bulk deposits, special deposits, charge cards, loyalty cards, and returns.
- Verify the validity and accuracy of all returns processed.
- Action cash clearance and resolve associated queries.
- Ensure timely cash pick-ups.
- Execute end-of-day procedures on all POS terminals.
- Conduct daily cash-ups for all POS terminals, including the back office terminal.
- Ensure a second designated Cashbuild employee is present during Cash in Transit (CIT) money collections.
- Oversee the timely collection of daily takings by the CIT company.
- Operational Readiness:
- Implement and ensure “Ready for Business” processes are followed.
- Ensure cashiers maintain their designated areas of responsibility.
- Maintain a neat and tidy Cash Office at all times.
- Ensure all Cash Office-related documentation is filed neatly and kept up-to-date.
- Team Supervision:
- Confirm the presence and availability of all cashiers to assist customers and fulfill their responsibilities.
- Ensure trained backup is available for all cashiers.
- Oversee the execution of daily duties by cashiers, adhering to checklists such as “Ready for Business” and “Beyond my Control.”
- Ensure subordinate scheduling is completed promptly.
- Take responsibility for providing product knowledge training to cashiers, as agreed with the Store Manager.
- Schedule and supervise all POS employees, managing leave, time off, and days off.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of subordinates.
- Ensure all cashiers comply with the company dress code.
- Safety and Security:
- Ensure adherence to all safety standards (OHSA).
- Maintain awareness of suspicious individuals or activities within and outside the store.
- Uphold password security protocols.
- Ensure the Cash Office is secured at all times.
- Guarantee the Cash Office door is locked during pick-ups, cash-ups, and CIT collections.
- Ensure till pick-ups are conducted within established parameters.
- Prevent unauthorized access to the Cash Office.
- Ensure safe keys are securely locked away and in safe custody.
- Prohibit the storage of rations, stock, or unrelated documentation within the Cash Office.
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience, or at least 10 years of direct work experience.
- Proficiency in English and the dominant language spoken in the Ga-Malekana area.
- Above-average numerical skills.
- Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Computer literacy.
- Previous cashier experience is essential.
