We are seeking a diligent and customer-focused Cashier to join the Cashbuild team in Queenstown, South Africa. As a Cashier, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate Point of Sale (POS) transactions and contributing to overall customer satisfaction. Role Overview
The primary responsibility of the Cashier is the accurate handling of all Point of Sale (POS) transactions and associated documentation. You will ensure that all sales are processed correctly, preventing any goods from leaving the premises without payment, and ultimately contributing to a smooth and positive customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
Cash Handling:
- Maintain accurate cash balances, including floats and petty cash, ensuring no discrepancies.
- Correctly identify and capture goods on the Point of Sale Terminal.
- Process customer payments accurately on the POS Terminal.
- Ensure sufficient change is available at all times.
- Perform pickups accurately and within set parameters.
- Conduct end-of-shift cash-ups accurately.
- Deposit all daily takings into the Drop Safe/vault.
- Process all transactions related to other stores’ money, deliveries, and quotes correctly.
Administration:
- Sign, compile, and file all documentation relevant to the Cashier function.
Customer Service:
- Provide fast, friendly, and efficient service to Cashbuild customers during checkout.
- Direct customers to the appropriate personnel for assistance.
- Adhere to the company’s dress code.
Safety and Security:
- Ensure compliance with Safety (OHSA) regulations within your area of responsibility, promoting customer and staff safety.
- Report any discrepancies to the Store Manager.
- Maintain security awareness, including adherence to system password controls at the till point.
- Ensure secure cash handling and transport to the cash office as per Cashbuild Way requirements.
Operational Standards:
- Adhere to “Ready for Business” and “Beyond my Control” standards as per the CB Way.
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 or a minimum of one (1) year of relevant work experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant local language spoken in the Queenstown area.
- Proficiency in performing basic calculations accurately.
- Strong administration skills are essential.
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
