Key Purpose
The Product Specialist plays a central role in executing Vitality’s product strategy by designing, developing, and enhancing products and features that improve member engagement and deliver strategic business outcomes. This role leads cross-functional initiatives from concept through to implementation, ensuring high-quality product delivery, strong customer experience, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development and Strategy
- Drive the execution of Vitality’s product strategy through the development and enhancement of products and features
- Lead cross-functional teams in delivering new products, features, and large-scale initiatives
- Manage the full product lifecycle from ideation and conceptualisation to implementation and launch
- Ensure products align with business strategy and deliver measurable value and ROI
Product Ownership and Delivery
- Act as product lead for development teams across multiple initiatives
- Prioritise work across product streams to ensure alignment with strategic objectives
- Develop product specifications for enhancements, launches, and major projects
- Approve system requirements, business specifications, and user journeys
Customer Experience and Engagement
- Enhance member engagement through improved product design and experience
- Identify and remove barriers to member engagement across the customer journey
- Ensure products are designed to encourage self-service and ease of use
- Continuously improve member experience across all touchpoints
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with marketing, systems, UX, design, operations, and finance teams
- Build and manage strategic relationships with partners and suppliers
- Align stakeholder inputs with product and business objectives
- Present proposals, business cases, and project updates to gain approval and buy-in
Research and Innovation
- Stay informed on trends in digital experience, gamification, health, and wellness
- Conduct research to support product design, innovation, and improvement
- Identify opportunities for new product development and feature enhancements
- Evaluate performance of existing products and propose improvements
Operational Excellence
- Ensure products are designed for efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness
- Review and approve testing plans for new products and features
- Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies in product design and processes
- Monitor product performance against defined objectives and targets
Responsibilities
- Develop and present business cases for new or enhanced products
- Approve technical specifications, marketing content, UX designs, and member journeys
- Ensure operational readiness and efficiency of all product implementations
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution
- Define and drive engagement strategies to meet business targets
- Support delivery of Vitality’s strategic roadmap and initiatives
- Contribute to ongoing research and insights for product improvement
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (required)
- Postgraduate degree or business diploma is advantageous
- 3–5 years’ experience in product management, product development, digital marketing, or strategy
- Experience in a managerial or leadership role is preferred
- Exposure to digital trends, customer experience, and engagement strategies
- Experience in agile product ownership is advantageous
- Proven experience leading projects and cross-functional teams
- Strong background in stakeholder management and relationship building
