Cashbuild is seeking a diligent and customer-focused Cashier to join our team in Holfontein, South Africa. Key Responsibilities

As a Cashier, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Accurately managing all Point of Sale (POS) transactions and related documentation to ensure exceptional customer satisfaction.
  • Guaranteeing that all merchandise is properly paid for before leaving the Point of Sale.

Cash Handling

  • Ensure all allocated cash, including floats and petty cash, balances perfectly, with no discrepancies.
  • Correctly identify and capture goods on the Point of Sale terminal.
  • Accurately record customer payment types on the Point of Sale terminal.
  • Maintain sufficient change at all times.
  • Perform pickups accurately and within established parameters.
  • Complete end-of-shift cash-ups with precision.
  • Deposit all daily takings into the designated Drop Safe or vault.
  • Process all transactions related to other store monies, deliveries, and quotes correctly.

Administration

  • Sign, compile, and file all documentation pertaining to the Cashier function.

Ready for Business

  • Adhere to the “Ready for Business” and “Beyond My Control” principles as outlined in the CB Way.

Customer Service

  • Provide fast, friendly, and efficient service to all Cashbuild customers during checkout.
  • Direct customers to the appropriate personnel for assistance.
  • Comply with the company’s dress code.

Safety (OHSA) Requirements

  • Ensure compliance with Safety (OHSA) regulations, including customer and staff safety within your area of responsibility.
  • Report any discrepancies to the Store Manager.

Security Awareness

  • Maintain strict adherence to security protocols, such as system password control at the till point.
  • Safeguard cash and ensure its transport to the cash office according to Cashbuild Way requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 or a minimum of one (1) year of relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency in English and the dominant language spoken in the Holfontein area.
  • Ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
  • Strong administration skills.
  • Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
