Cashier Position – Holfontein, South Africa
Cashbuild is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Cashier in Holfontein, South Africa. In this role, you will be responsible for the accurate handling of all Point of Sale (POS) transactions and essential documentation, playing a crucial part in ensuring excellent customer satisfaction. A key aspect of this position is to ensure that no merchandise leaves the store without proper payment.
Key Responsibilities
Cash Handling:
- Ensure accurate balancing of all allocated cash, including floats and petty cash, maintaining zero discrepancies (no shorts or overs).
- Accurately identify and capture all goods on the Point of Sale terminal.
- Process customer payments precisely on the Point of Sale terminal, ensuring the correct payment types are recorded.
- Maintain an adequate supply of change at all times.
- Execute pick-ups accurately and within the established parameters.
- Conduct end-of-shift cash-ups with precision.
- Ensure all daily takings are securely dropped into the designated safe or vault.
- Correctly process all transactions related to inter-store transfers, deliveries, and quotations.
Administration:
- Sign, compile, and file all documentation pertinent to the Cashier function.
Customer Service:
- Provide fast, friendly, and efficient service to all Cashbuild customers during the checkout process.
- Direct customers to the appropriate personnel for further assistance.
- Adhere to the company’s dress code at all times.
Safety and Security:
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) regulations, including maintaining safety for both customers and staff within your area of responsibility.
- Report any discrepancies or safety concerns immediately to the Store Manager.
- Adhere to all security protocols, including system password control at the till point.
- Ensure the secure handling and transport of cash to the cash office as per Cashbuild’s procedures.
Requirements
- Grade 12 or a minimum of one year of relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in communicating in English and the dominant local language spoken in the Holfontein area.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations accurately.
- Strong administrative skills are essential.
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Capacity to perform effectively under pressure.
