General Assistant

Key Responsibilities

As a General Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring exceptional customer service and maintaining store standards. Your primary duties will include:

• Customer Service Excellence: Providing comprehensive assistance to customers, advising them on the correct products, and effectively resolving any queries or complaints they may have.
• Merchandising and Presentation: Ensuring all stock is accurately merchandised on shelves and in bulk areas, adhering to store layout plans and planograms. This includes correct price labelling and maintaining a visually appealing presentation within your designated area.
• Housekeeping and Safety: Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment within your area of responsibility. This involves keeping aisles clear of obstacles, promptly merchandising received stock, and ensuring customers and colleagues can navigate the store safely. You will also be responsible for completing required checklists and adhering to safety (OHSA) regulations, including the proper use of safety gear and ensuring the safety of both customers and staff.
• Stock Management: Reporting any damaged stock to the Store Manager and assisting with the management of stock loss.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A minimum of Grade 10 (NQF 3) with at least one year of relevant work experience, OR a Grade 12 qualification with no prior work experience.
• The ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant local language spoken in the Mahikeng area.
• A valid South African ID or work permit.
• Proficiency in performing basic calculations accurately.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• The capacity to perform effectively under pressure.
