We are seeking a dedicated and customer-focused General Assistant to join our team at Cashbuild in Mondlo. Role Overview

As a General Assistant, your primary responsibilities will include providing comprehensive customer service, maintaining stock merchandising standards, ensuring accurate shelf pricing, and upholding a high level of housekeeping within your designated area. You will be an integral part of the store team, contributing to the overall success and smooth running of the branch.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Offer expert advice and assistance to customers regarding products and their queries.
  • Effectively handle and resolve customer complaints to ensure satisfaction.

Merchandising Standards

  • Organise bulk stock areas safely and in accordance with the store’s layout plan.
  • Ensure your assigned area is fully merchandised according to store layout and planograms.

Housekeeping

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by promptly merchandising received stock and ensuring aisles are free of obstructions.
  • Ensure correct shelf price labelling is maintained within your area of responsibility.
  • Complete required checklists, including schedules for canteen and toilet/shower areas, as needed.

Safety (OHSA) Requirements

  • Adhere to all Safety (OHSA) regulations, including the proper use of safety gear and ensuring the safety of customers and staff.
  • Merchandise stock in both racking and bulk areas to ensure safe movement for customers and colleagues within the store.
  • Report any safety discrepancies or concerns to the Store Manager immediately.

Stock Management

  • Report any damaged stock within your area of responsibility to the Store Manager.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this General Assistant position, candidates must possess:

  • A minimum of Grade 10 or NQF Level 3, coupled with at least one year of relevant work experience.
  • Alternatively, a Grade 12 qualification without prior work experience will be considered.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and the dominant local language spoken in the Mondlo area.
  • A valid South African ID or work permit.
  • The ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
  • Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • The capacity to work effectively under pressure.
