Role Description
As a General Assistant, you will be instrumental in delivering excellent customer service, managing stock effectively, and upholding the visual standards of the store. Your responsibilities will encompass merchandising, accurate shelf pricing, and maintaining a clean and safe shopping environment for both customers and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Provide expert advice and assistance to customers regarding our products and their queries.
- Support in resolving customer complaints efficiently and professionally.
Merchandising Standards
- Organise and maintain the bulk stock area safely, adhering to the store’s layout plan.
- Ensure your designated area of responsibility is fully merchandised in line with store layout and planograms.
Housekeeping
- Keep your area clear of obstacles, ensuring stock is merchandised promptly after receipt.
- Guarantee that customers can navigate aisles safely, free from any risks of injury or irritation.
- Maintain accurate shelf price labelling within your area.
- Complete required checklists, including canteen and toilet/shower schedules, as needed during your shift.
Safety (OHSA) Requirements
- Adhere to all Safety (OHSA) regulations, including the use of safety gear and ensuring the safety of customers and staff.
- Ensure your area of responsibility, including racking and bulk stock, is merchandised safely for both customers and colleagues.
- Report any safety discrepancies or hazards to the Store Manager.
Stock Loss Management
- Report any damaged stock within your area of responsibility to the Store Manager immediately.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be considered for this General Assistant position, you will need:
- A minimum of Grade 10 (NQF 3) with at least one year of relevant work experience, OR
- A Grade 12 certificate without prior work experience.
- The ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant local language spoken in Steelpoort.
- A valid South African ID or work permit.
- Proficiency in performing basic calculations accurately.
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- The ability to perform effectively under pressure.
