Cashbuild is seeking a meticulous and qualified Group Accountant to join our finance team. This pivotal role involves preparing all necessary financial information, calculations, and reports to ensure compliance for the Group and its subsidiaries with accounting obligations. You will be responsible for adherence to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), JSE listing requirements, the Companies Act, and other relevant group information.
Key Responsibilities
Monthly Reporting
- Perform monthly calculations, reconciliations, and reporting in a timely manner.
- Ensure internal reporting complies with IFRS. Advise line management on any non-compliance and its impact on external group reporting.
- Analyse financial results to identify trends and present them to line management.
- Prepare and finalise quarterly board pack financial information.
- Undertake ad hoc reporting as required.
Financial Statement Preparations
- Prepare and finalise Group and subsidiary financial statements, ensuring IFRS compliance.
- Coordinate and manage the timely approval of financial statements by all relevant parties.
- Assess group policies and ensure consistent application across all subsidiaries. Identify and communicate implications of non-uniform application to line management, proposing solutions for group-wide compliance.
- Ensure external reporting adheres to IFRS.
SAP Hierarchy Maintenance
- Maintain company structures, hierarchies, and chart of accounts accurately. Ensure regular and timely updates based on approved requests.
- Assign owners to all General Ledger accounts for reconciliation purposes.
Forex Management
- Maintain and update company and group currency exchange rates within reporting systems.
- Monitor and report significant currency fluctuations to management.
- Calculate and assess the reasonability of foreign currency revaluations.
Ad Hoc Group Projects
- Complete assigned projects from management, which may involve investigation, proposal development, and implementation.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum NQF 8 (Chartered Accountant – CA(SA) or equivalent).
- Completed CA article training contract.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and a flexible approach to work.
- Capacity to work effectively under pressure.
