Rigging Assistant
We are seeking a motivated and safety-focused Rigging Assistant to support underground mining operations. The successful candidate will assist riggers with lifting and rigging activities, ensure equipment is prepared and maintained correctly, and contribute to a safe and efficient working environment underground.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist qualified riggers during lifting, rigging, and equipment positioning operations.
- Prepare, transport, and organize rigging tools, lifting gear, and associated equipment.
- Support the inspection and maintenance of rigging equipment before and after use.
- Assist with equipment installations, maintenance projects, and shutdown activities.
- Ensure work areas are clean, organized, and free from hazards.
- Follow instructions from supervisors and riggers to complete assigned tasks safely and efficiently.
- Handle materials and equipment in accordance with approved safety procedures.
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and training sessions.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, or potential hazards.
- Maintain compliance with mine safety regulations, company policies, and underground operating procedures.
- Assist in loading, unloading, and moving equipment and materials underground as required.
Requirements
- Previous underground mining experience will be advantageous.
- Valid Red Ticket or Medical Fitness Certificate for underground mining work.
- Basic understanding of rigging activities, lifting operations, and safe work practices.
- Physically fit and capable of working in demanding underground environments.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and operational standards.
Mandatory Certifications
- Valid Working at Heights Certificate.
- Valid Confined Space Certificate.
- Valid Power Tools Training Certificate.

- Ability to work under pressure in a physically demanding environment.
