Cashbuild is seeking a dedicated and experienced System Sup to join our team in the Western Cape. This crucial role involves overseeing all Point of Sale (POS) transactions, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction, and managing all cash office and banking operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Point of Sale (POS) Management:
    • Supervise and ensure the efficient processing of all Speed Point (credit and debit card) transactions.
    • Manage customer interactions, addressing queries, complaints, and requests effectively, escalating to management when necessary.
    • Provide fast, friendly, and efficient service to all customers.
    • Maintain stock and consumables within the store, ensuring availability.
  • Cash Handling and Banking:
    • Control and manage store floats, including petty cash, till floats, and change floats.
    • Oversee change ordering and dispensing.
    • Balance and record petty cash expenses and vouchers in the ledger.
    • Process back-office transactions and cash up all cashiers and the back-office till, including bulk deposits, special deposits, charge cards, loyalty cards, and returns.
    • Verify the validity and accuracy of all returns processed.
    • Action cash clearances and resolve any related queries.
    • Ensure timely completion of money pick-ups.
    • Perform end-of-day procedures on all POS terminals.
    • Conduct daily cash-ups for all POS terminals, including the back-office terminal.
    • Ensure a second designated Cashbuild employee is present for Cash in Transit (CIT) money collections.
    • Oversee the timely collection of daily takings by the CIT Company.
  • Operational Readiness:
    • Implement “Ready for Business” processes to ensure smooth store operations.
    • Maintain high standards for cashier areas of responsibility.
    • Keep the cash office neat, tidy, and organised at all times.
    • Ensure all cash office documentation is filed correctly and kept up-to-date.
  • Team Supervision:
    • Ensure all cashiers are present and available to assist customers and fulfil their responsibilities.
    • Confirm that cashiers have trained backup available.
    • Oversee the execution of daily duties by cashiers, adhering to checklists.
    • Ensure timely scheduling of subordinates.
    • Provide product knowledge training to cashiers as agreed with the Store Manager.
    • Manage the scheduling and supervision of all POS employees, including leave and time-off requests.
    • Monitor and evaluate the performance of subordinates.
    • Ensure all cashiers comply with the company dress code.
  • Safety and Security:
    • Adhere to all safety (OHSA) standards.
    • Maintain awareness of suspicious individuals and activities within and outside the store.
    • Uphold password security protocols.
    • Ensure the cash office is secured at all times, especially during pick-ups, cash-ups, and CIT collections.
    • Ensure till pick-ups are conducted within set parameters.
    • Prevent unauthorised access to the cash office.
    • Ensure safe keys are securely stored.
    • Prohibit the storage of rations, stock, or unrelated documentation within the cash office.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or 10 years of extensive work-related experience.
  • Proficiency in English and the dominant language spoken in the geographical area of the position.
  • Above-average numeric skills.
  • Proven ability to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Computer literacy is essential.
  • Previous cashier experience is required.
