Key Responsibilities

As a Cashier, your primary focus will be the accurate handling of all Point of Sale (POS) transactions and associated documentation. You will be responsible for ensuring that no merchandise leaves the store without proper payment, thereby maintaining high standards of customer satisfaction and loss prevention.

Cash Handling

  • Maintain accurate balances for all allocated cash, including floats and petty cash, ensuring no shorts or overs.
  • Accurately identify and capture goods on the Point of Sale terminal.
  • Process customer payments correctly on the POS terminal.
  • Ensure sufficient change is available at all times.
  • Perform pick-ups accurately and within set parameters.
  • Conduct end-of-shift cash-ups with precision.
  • Safely deposit all daily takings into the drop safe or vault.
  • Correctly process all transactions related to other stores, deliveries, and quotes.

Administration

  • Sign, compile, and file all documentation relevant to the Cashier function.

Ready for Business

  • Adhere to the “Ready for Business” and “Beyond my Control” standards as defined by the CB Way.

Customer Service

  • Provide fast, friendly, and efficient service to all Cashbuild customers during checkout.
  • Direct customers to the appropriate personnel for further assistance.
  • Comply with the company’s dress code at all times.

Safety (OHSA) Requirements

  • Ensure compliance with Safety (OHSA) regulations, prioritizing the safety of both customers and staff within your area of responsibility.
  • Report any discrepancies or safety concerns to the Store Manager immediately.

Security Awareness

  • Adhere to security protocols, including system password control at the till point.
  • Ensure the safe keeping of cash and its secure transport to the cash office, following Cashbuild Way requirements.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 or a minimum of one (1) year of relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency in English and the dominant local language spoken in the Limpopo region.
  • Ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
  • Strong administration skills.
  • Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure.
