Cashbuild is seeking a diligent and customer-focused Cashier to join our team in Randfontein. As a Cashier, you will be at the forefront of customer interaction, responsible for the accurate and efficient handling of all Point of Sale (POS) transactions. Your role is crucial in ensuring customer satisfaction and maintaining the integrity of our sales process, guaranteeing that all items are properly accounted for before leaving the store.
Key Responsibilities
Cash Handling:
- Accurately manage all allocated cash, including floats and petty cash, ensuring balances are precise with no discrepancies.
- Correctly identify and scan goods through the Point of Sale terminal.
- Process customer payments accurately according to the payment type received.
- Maintain sufficient change levels at all times.
- Perform pickups accurately and within designated parameters.
- Conduct end-of-shift cash-ups with precision.
- Ensure all daily takings are securely deposited into the drop safe or vault.
- Process all transactions related to inter-store transfers, deliveries, and quotes correctly.
Administration:
- Compile, sign, and file all documentation pertinent to the Cashier function.
Customer Service:
- Provide fast, friendly, and efficient service to all Cashbuild customers during checkout.
- Direct customers to the appropriate personnel for assistance.
- Adhere to the company’s dress code.
Safety and Security:
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHSA) regulations, contributing to a safe environment for customers and staff.
- Report any safety discrepancies or security concerns to the Store Manager immediately.
- Adhere to security protocols, including password control at the till point.
- Safeguard cash and ensure its secure transport to the cash office as per Cashbuild procedures.
Operational Standards:
- Uphold the “Ready for Business” and “Beyond my Control” standards as outlined by the Cashbuild Way.
Requirements
- Grade 12 or a minimum of one year of relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in English and the dominant local language spoken in the Randfontein area.
- Demonstrated ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
- Strong administrative skills.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure.
