About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Manager: Base Airports to oversee airport operations, ensure compliance with safety and service standards, and deliver a seamless passenger experience. This role provides leadership to airport staff, manages resources and external service providers, and drives operational excellence across all base airport activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and authorise purchases and invoices for Passenger Services, Crew, and Technical operations
- Oversee costs related to delays and missed connections, implementing cost-saving initiatives where applicable
- Manage external service provider relationships and ensure alignment with FlySafair service standards
- Plan, organise, and motivate resources to maintain operational efficiency
- Coordinate delay handling and, in severe cases, represent FlySafair on-site at the airport
- Ensure emergency plans are in place for all relevant stations
- Conduct regular audits to maintain the highest quality of service and safety standards
- Promote a smooth and positive passenger experience, achieving customer service KPIs and NPS targets
- Lead, train, and develop airport staff, ensuring effective communication and adequate staffing levels
- Manage staff performance, schedules, and recruitment in coordination with HR
- Enforce housekeeping, health, safety, and company code of conduct regulations
- Represent FlySafair Operations at committees, including Airline Operators Committee (AOC), Baggage/Pilferage, Airport Security and Safety, and Bird & Wildlife committees at various stations
Job Requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent (essential)
- Diploma or degree in Travel and Tourism or Aviation (advantageous)
- Minimum 10 years aviation experience, including at least 5 years in management
- Experience in baggage handling, passenger handling operations, cargo handling, and non-scheduled operations
- Knowledge of commercial ground handling agreements
- Familiarity with IOSA and ISAGO audit requirements
