PROFESSIONAL NURSE

About the Program

Main Job Purpose
The Professional Nurse delivers high-quality, nurse-led HIV and primary healthcare services to men who have sex with men (MSM) and other key populations through the Ivan Toms Centre, mobile units, and other DOH sites. This role provides integrated clinical care across the HIV prevention and treatment cascade, ensures client retention and viral suppression, upholds national clinical guidelines, and contributes to client-centred, stigma-free healthcare services.

Role Deliverables

Lead the Deployment of a Mobile Clinical Service Team

  • Plan and implement mobile clinical services and community-based activities to meet daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly targets.
  • Ensure all clinical and community-based activities comply with programme requirements and DOH policies.
  • Maintain accurate data reflecting all clinical and community activities.
  • Manage planning, communication, and tracking systems to ensure sustained client follow-up.
  • Directly line-manage a Mobile Team Coordinator and HTS Counsellor.

Clinical Service Delivery, Cohort Management, and Retention Support

  • Provide standard clinical services at the Ivan Toms Centre, mobile units, or other clinic sites, including HTS, ART, PrEP, PEP, STI and TB screening, and STI treatment.
  • Deliver additional clinical services under the guidance of the CNP and/or Senior Clinical Advisor, including NCD and mental health care.
  • Ensure all clinical services are performed within licensed scope of practice and aligned with organizational SOPs and National Department of Health guidelines.
  • Meet project performance targets through effective service delivery.
  • Oversee linkage to care and follow-up for clients needing additional services.
  • Identify clients requiring specialist care and facilitate referrals through CNPs or Senior Clinical Advisor.
  • Provide clinical oversight to allocated client cohorts to ensure viral suppression, PrEP continuation, and other clinical needs.

Quality Assurance and Routine Monitoring

  • Implement daily quality assurance and monitoring to ensure accurate reporting and service delivery.
  • Provide clinical oversight for mobile and facility-based non-clinical teams.
  • Conduct clinical quality assurance procedures, including rapid test continuous quality improvement, per project, organizational, and National Department of Health guidelines.
  • Maintain current knowledge of clinical guidelines, required licenses, and SOPs.
  • Manage allocated clinical practice spaces and adhere to project and site procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety and Infection Control policies.
  • Maintain operational records, reconcile clinical materials, equipment, and medications, and perform routine inventories as required.

Project Support and Administration

  • Complete programme reporting and data management, including clinical records, registers, and routine performance reports.
  • Support training and capacity building for clinical and non-clinical staff and stakeholders.
  • Provide additional administrative, clinical, and programme support as requested and fulfil additional responsibilities delegated by managers.
