Boilermaker – Value Logistics

Value Logistics is seeking a skilled and experienced Boilermaker to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be instrumental in fabricating and assembling metal components for truck bodies, ensuring the highest standards of precision and quality. You’ll work closely with a dedicated team, adhering to stringent safety protocols and collaborating to meet project deadlines. Your responsibilities will extend to performing essential repairs, maintaining equipment, and meticulously documenting your work.

Key Responsibilities

Metal Fabrication and Welding

  • Accurately cut, shape, and assemble metal components.
  • Proficiently utilize tools such as plasma cutters, grinders, and shears.
  • Execute tasks with precision using relevant welding techniques.
  • Stay current with the latest welding and fabrication techniques and technologies.
  • Select appropriate materials based on detailed project specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to fully understand project requirements.
  • Accurately measure and mark metal components to ensure proper alignment and fit.
  • Conduct repairs on damaged truck body components and perform routine maintenance tasks.

Quality Control and Safety Compliance

  • Thoroughly inspect finished products to ensure they meet all quality standards.
  • Strictly adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Regularly maintain and clean welding and fabrication equipment.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues that may arise during the fabrication process.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate tasks efficiently.
  • Work closely with foremen and managers to ensure the highest possible quality of output.
  • Complete tasks within established project timelines.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all work performed, including materials used and time spent on projects.

Panel Shop Operations

  • Review job cards and quotations to determine required work.
  • Cross-reference the vehicle against the job card/quotation and identify necessary parts for ordering.
  • Inspect for any additional damage beyond the initial scope.
  • Order required parts and follow up as needed.
  • Verify that ordered parts are correct and free from damage.
  • Ensure all parts designated for painting are correctly transferred to the paint shop.
  • Perform stripping and assembly of vehicle components.
  • Confirm proper panel alignment and fitment of all parts.
  • Conduct a comprehensive recheck of the entire job to ensure all work is completed to a high standard.
  • Perform a physical inspection to confirm the vehicle is roadworthy.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric) qualification.
  • Red Seal Trade certificate.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant workshop experience.

  • Superior safety awareness, as strict adherence to safety protocols and guidelines is paramount.
