We are seeking a diligent and customer-focused Cashier to join our team at Cashbuild in Dwarsloop, South Africa. As a Cashier, you will be instrumental in ensuring accurate Point of Sale (POS) transactions and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. Your primary responsibility will be to efficiently manage all transactions, ensuring that no items leave the store without proper payment.
About the Role
This role involves the accurate handling of all Point of Sale (POS) transactions and associated documentation. You will be the final point of contact for many of our customers, and your professionalism and accuracy will directly contribute to their positive shopping experience.
Key Responsibilities
Cash Handling
- Ensure all allocated cash, including floats and petty cash, balances perfectly at the end of each shift, with no shorts or overs.
- Accurately identify and capture goods on the Point of Sale terminal.
- Record the correct payment type received from customers on the POS terminal.
- Maintain sufficient change levels at all times.
- Perform pick-ups accurately and within established parameters.
- Conduct end-of-shift cash-ups with precision.
- Ensure all daily takings are safely deposited into the Drop Safe or vault.
- Process all transactions related to other stores’ money, deliveries, and quotes correctly.
Administration
- Sign, compile, and file all documentation relevant to the Cashier function.
Customer Service
- Provide fast, friendly, and efficient service to all Cashbuild customers during checkout.
- Direct customers to the appropriate personnel for assistance when needed.
- Adhere to the company’s dress code.
Safety and Security
- Ensure compliance with Safety (OHSA) regulations, contributing to a safe environment for both customers and staff within your area of responsibility.
- Report any discrepancies immediately to the Store Manager.
- Uphold security protocols, including system password control at the till point.
- Ensure the safe keeping of cash and its transport to the cash office according to Cashbuild Way requirements.

Requirements
- Grade 12 or a minimum of one (1) year of relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in English and the dominant language spoken in the Dwarsloop geographical area.
- Ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
- Strong administration skills are essential.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure.
