Cashier

Cashbuild is seeking a dedicated Cashier to join our team in Mondlo, South Africa.

As a Cashier, you will be responsible for the accurate and efficient handling of all Point of Sale (POS) transactions and documentation to ensure exceptional customer satisfaction. A key aspect of this role is ensuring that all merchandise is paid for before it leaves the store.

Key Responsibilities

Cash Handling:

  • Maintain accurate cash balances, including floats and petty cash, ensuring no discrepancies (shorts or overs).
  • Accurately identify and capture goods on the Point of Sale terminal.
  • Process customer payments correctly on the Point of Sale terminal.
  • Ensure you have adequate change available at all times.
  • Execute pickups accurately and within established parameters.
  • Conduct end-of-shift cash-ups with precision.
  • Ensure all daily takings are safely deposited into the drop safe or vault.
  • Process transactions related to inter-store transfers, deliveries, and quotes correctly.

Administration:

  • Sign, compile, and file all documentation pertaining to the Cashier function.

Customer Service:

  • Provide fast, friendly, and efficient service to all Cashbuild customers during checkout.
  • Direct customers to the appropriate personnel for assistance.
  • Adhere to the company’s dress code.

Safety and Security:

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations (OHSA) within your area of responsibility, prioritizing customer and staff safety.
  • Report any discrepancies immediately to the Store Manager.
  • Adhere to security protocols, including system password control at the till point.
  • Ensure the safe keeping of cash and its transport to the cash office in accordance with Cashbuild Way requirements.

Adherence to Company Standards:

  • Uphold “Ready for Business” and “Beyond My Control” principles as per the CB Way.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 or a minimum of one year of relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency in English and the dominant language spoken in the Mondlo area.
  • Ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
  • Strong administrative skills.
  • Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure.
