Perpetual Inventory Controller
Cashbuild is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Perpetual Inventory Controller to join our team in Barberton, Mpumalanga, South Africa. This role is crucial for maintaining accurate stock levels and ensuring operational efficiency within our stores.
Role Overview
As a Perpetual Inventory Controller, you will be responsible for conducting regular physical stock counts, meticulously verifying them against system records, and thoroughly investigating any discrepancies. Your ability to identify and report on damaged stock, incorrect pricing, and SKU issues will directly contribute to minimizing stock loss and optimizing inventory management.
Key Responsibilities
- Perpetual Inventory Counts:
- Perform daily stock counts according to the Perpetual Inventory Count (PIC) cycle.
- Investigate all variances, both positive and negative, and report findings to the Store Manager.
- Investigate and rectify negative stock quantities daily, following approval from the Store Manager.
- Identify and report any damaged stock to the Store Manager.
- Conduct mini stock-takes as directed by management.
- Assist with preparations for wall-to-wall stock-takes and highlight any areas of concern.
- Complete normal PIC counts during full stock-takes.
- Reporting:
- Report daily variances to the Store Manager and/or Divisional Manager as per Cashbuild procedures.
- Report all irregularities to Store Management and/or Divisional Manager.
- Escalate irregularities to the Divisional Manager if no action is taken by the Store Manager.
- Report on incorrect or poor-quality pricing, SKUs, and damaged stock.
- Report on poor merchandising in racking and bulk areas.
- Report on bulk stock areas requiring special attention.
- PIC Adjustments:
- Ensure all adjustments are actioned, verified for accuracy, and signed off by Management.
- Validate the “End of Day Report” against the previous day’s PIC Adjustment Sheet and file accordingly.
- Report any adjustments not completed on the day of the count cycle before the end of trading.
- Filing and Administration:
- Ensure all PIC documents are completed, signed by you, approved by the Store Manager, and filed daily.
- Ready for Business:
- Adhere to “Ready for Business” and “Beyond my Control” principles as per the Cashbuild Way.
- Customer Service:
- Adhere to the Cashbuild dress code at all times.
- Ensure your name badge is displayed and visible to customers.
- Promptly assist with customer complaints.
- Safety (OHSA) Requirements:
- Ensure compliance with Safety (OHSA) regulations, including customer and staff safety within your area of responsibility.
- Report any safety discrepancies to the Store Manager.
- Ensure correct safety equipment and clothing are used.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum Grade 12 qualification.
- A minimum of one (1) year of work-related experience, or two (2) years of related experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant language spoken in the Barberton area.
- Must be literate.
- Strong numeric skills are essential.
- Demonstrated accuracy and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and Public Holidays.
