Key Responsibilities

Strategic Management
  • Develop, implement, and manage a strategic plan for the store, ensuring alignment with Divisional strategy and company initiatives.
Grow and Protect Market Share
  • Drive transactions, sales, and market share within the store to meet or exceed budget objectives.
  • Manage and promote customer loyalty programs and third-party credit facilities.
  • Develop and execute action plans to counter competitive market entries.
  • Ensure store business plans are effectively implemented and updated as needed.
Customer Service
  • Oversee the implementation and monitoring of the customer service strategy in-store.
  • Maintain an effective delivery service in line with company policy.
  • Grow and maintain the VIC and charge card client base.
  • Recommend range improvements to better suit market demands.
Asset Control
  • Manage and control store shrinkage according to company policy.
  • Safeguard company assets, including cash, stock, and fixed assets.
  • Effectively manage debtors within the store.
  • Analyze security requirements and recommend necessary changes to store security measures.
  • Ensure physical security measures are implemented and maintained.
Business Trade Licenses
  • Ensure all relevant trade licenses are up-to-date and renewed in a timely manner.
Human Resource Management
  • Manage manpower requirements in accordance with company and divisional strategies.
  • Ensure succession planning and career pathing are established within the store.
  • Foster open communication and positive relations with the Store Employee Forum and all staff.
  • Oversee training and development initiatives for the store team.
  • Manage employee relations effectively within the store.
Maintaining Store Standards
  • Conduct daily floor walks to ensure operational excellence.
  • Oversee the implementation of agreed-upon action plans (PIPs) where necessary.
  • Monitor adherence to company standards and compliance within the store.
  • Ensure high housekeeping standards are maintained.
  • Uphold merchandising policies and standards.
  • Ensure stores are ready for business each day.
  • Maintain the condition of lighting, store fixtures, and racking.
Stock Management
  • Ensure stock is ordered and received according to company policy.
  • Manage damaged stock as per policy guidelines.
  • Implement action plans for obsolete and deranged stock.
  • Manage slow-moving stock effectively.
  • Implement action plans for excess stock.
Store Safety (OHSA) Standards
  • Manage safety aspects in line with local (OHSA) and/or neighbouring countries’ legislation.
  • Ensure all required safety checklists are completed.
  • Ensure the appointment of all OHSA representatives for the store as required by legislation.
  • Investigate, report, and manage OHSA incidents.
Expense Management
  • Manage the store within the financial model and benchmarks.
  • Maintain expenses in line with the store’s budget.
Insurance Claims Administration
  • Report all incidents to the relevant insurer.
  • Liaise with the insurer regarding claim particulars and validity.
  • Submit necessary documentation to the insurer.
Management of CB Way
  • Implement and maintain controls and disciplines as per the CB Way.

Requirements and Competencies

Experience & Qualifications
  • Grade 12 qualification.
  • A minimum of 3 years of related retail management experience, or 5 years of related retail management experience.
Essential Skills & Attributes
  • Well-developed business acumen.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure.
  • Computer literate (basic computer skills).
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Strong administrative skills.
  • Sound knowledge of Health and Safety aspects in line with local (OHSA) and/or neighbouring countries’ legislation.
  • Strong Human Resources Management skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
Additional Requirements
  • Own transport is preferable, along with a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have own cell phone.
