Job Title: Cashier

We are seeking a diligent and customer-focused Cashier to join our team at Cashbuild in Marapyane, Mpumalanga. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the accurate and efficient handling of all Point of Sale (POS) transactions, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction and safeguarding company assets. Key Responsibilities

Cash Handling:

  • Maintain accurate cash floats and petty cash, ensuring all transactions balance with no discrepancies.
  • Precisely identify and scan goods through the POS terminal.
  • Accurately record customer payments on the POS system.
  • Ensure sufficient change is available at all times.
  • Process pick-ups accurately and within established guidelines.
  • Conduct end-of-shift cash-ups with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Securely deposit all daily takings into the drop safe or vault.
  • Correctly process all transactions related to inter-store transfers, deliveries, and quotes.

Administration:

  • Accurately sign, compile, and file all documentation pertinent to the Cashier function.

Customer Service:

  • Provide fast, friendly, and efficient service to all Cashbuild customers during checkout.
  • Direct customers to the appropriate personnel for assistance with their needs.
  • Adhere to the company’s dress code policy.

Safety and Security:

  • Ensure compliance with OHSA regulations, prioritizing the safety of customers and staff within your area of responsibility.
  • Report any discrepancies or safety concerns immediately to the Store Manager.
  • Adhere to all security protocols, including system password control at the till point.
  • Ensure the secure handling and transport of cash to the cash office as per Cashbuild procedures.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 or a minimum of one year of relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency in English and the dominant language spoken in the Marapyane geographical area.
  • Ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
  • Strong administrative skills are essential.
  • Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure.
