Role Overview
As a General Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a positive and efficient shopping experience for our customers. Your responsibilities will encompass providing comprehensive customer service, maintaining excellent merchandising standards, and upholding cleanliness and safety within your designated store area.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Service Excellence:
- Offer expert advice and assistance to customers regarding product selection and general queries.
- Effectively handle and resolve customer complaints to ensure satisfaction.
- Merchandising and Presentation:
- Organise and merchandise stock in bulk storage areas according to store layout plans and safety regulations.
- Ensure your assigned area of responsibility is fully stocked and presented according to store layout and planograms.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date shelf price labelling within your area.
- Store Housekeeping:
- Keep your designated area clear of obstructions, ensuring stock is merchandised promptly upon receipt.
- Guarantee customers can navigate aisles safely and without hindrance.
- Complete required checklists, including canteen and toilet/shower schedules, as per duty roster.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) requirements, including the use of safety gear and ensuring the safety of customers and colleagues.
- Ensure all stock, both on shelves and in bulk areas, is merchandised in a manner that allows for safe movement of customers and staff.
- Promptly report any discrepancies or safety concerns to the Store Manager.
- Stock Management:
- Report any damaged stock within your area of responsibility to the Store Manager.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Minimum Grade 10 or NQF Level 3 with at least one year of relevant work experience, OR
- Grade 12 qualification with no prior work experience.
- Proficiency in English and the dominant local language spoken in the Burgersfort area is essential for effective communication.
- A valid South African ID or valid work permit is required.
- Demonstrated ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays, as operational needs dictate.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
