Responsibilities

As a General Assistant, your primary duties will include:

• Customer Service: Providing comprehensive assistance and advice to customers regarding products and their queries. Effectively resolving customer complaints to ensure satisfaction.
• Merchandising: Ensuring stock is efficiently merchandised in the bulk stock area according to store layout plans. Maintaining a fully merchandised area of responsibility in line with store layout and planograms.
• Housekeeping: Keeping your designated area free of obstacles, promptly merchandising received stock, and ensuring safe and unimpeded access for customers. Maintaining accurate shelf price labelling within your area. Completing required checklists, including Canteen and Toilet/Shower schedules, when on duty.
• Safety (OHSA) Compliance: Adhering to all safety regulations, including the proper use of safety gear. Ensuring the safety of both customers and staff within your area of responsibility. Stock in both racking and bulk areas must be merchandised in a manner that allows safe movement for customers and colleagues. Reporting any safety discrepancies to the Store Manager.
• Stock Management: Reporting any damaged stock within your area of responsibility directly to the Store Manager.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A Minimum Grade 10 or NQF 3 qualification with at least one year of relevant work experience; OR
• A Grade 12 qualification without prior work experience.
• The ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant local language spoken in Malamulele.
• A valid South African ID or a valid work permit.
• Proficiency in performing basic calculations accurately.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• The ability to perform well under pressure.
