Cashbuild is seeking a dedicated and customer-focused General Assistant to join our team in Dwarsloop, South Africa. This role is crucial in ensuring a positive shopping experience for our customers through excellent service, efficient stock management, and maintaining store presentation standards.
Role Overview
As a General Assistant, your primary responsibilities will involve providing comprehensive customer service within the store, expertly merchandising stock, ensuring accurate shelf pricing, and maintaining high standards of housekeeping in your designated areas.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Advise and assist customers with product selection and address their queries.
- Support in resolving customer complaints effectively.
Merchandising Standards
- Ensure bulk stock areas are merchandised safely and in line with the store layout plan.
- Maintain your area of responsibility, ensuring it is fully merchandised according to store layout and planograms.
Housekeeping
- Keep your designated area free of obstacles.
- Merchandise stock immediately upon receipt.
- Ensure customer aisles are clear and safe for passage.
- Maintain correct shelf price labelling within your area.
- Complete required checklists, including Canteen and Toilet/Shower schedules when on duty.
Safety (OHSA) Requirements
- Comply with OHSA regulations, including the proper use of safety gear and ensuring the safety of customers and staff within your area of responsibility.
- Ensure that stock in racking and bulk areas is merchandised safely, allowing customers and colleagues to move freely and securely within the store.
- Report any safety discrepancies to the Store Manager.
Stock Loss Management
- Report any damaged stock within your area of responsibility to the Store Manager.
Requirements
To be successful in this General Assistant role, you will need:
- A minimum of Grade 10 or NQF Level 3 with at least one year of relevant work experience, OR
- A Grade 12 qualification without prior work experience.
- The ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant local language spoken in the Dwarsloop area.
- A valid South African ID or work permit.
- Proficiency in performing basic calculations accurately.
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- The ability to perform effectively under pressure.
